2024 Senior Representative Program Update
2024 SENIORS LEAGUE & REPRESENTATIVE OPPORTUNITIES
Proposed 2024 season for senior players features:
- Pre-season fitness and strength & conditioning undertaken by individuals wishing to compete in the Premier Volleyball League Trial season between May and end June
- Training: Available courts 23 April, plus 2, 7, 9, 14, 21, 28 May
- Season Schedule: Tue 4, 11, 18 June, Men's Finals Tue 25 June, tbc Women's Finals Wed 26 June
- First intake of Senior Men and Senior Women team, at the conclusion of the PVL season
- Scrimmage match for remaining players who did not compete in PVL shortly after the PVL finals (tbc date in early July)
HV Senior Reps Training
Selected teams training and scrimmage matches August/September. Maximum 1 team only per gender, for an elite level programming outcome. The HV Senior Reps training schedule will feature a mix of weekend and weeknight training sessions based on venue availability during August - October (and any need for mid-week sessions during the SEVL competition season).
South Eastern Volleyball League (SEVL)
Hunter Volleyball has been invited to join the newly formed home & away SEVL which launched in 2023. The League features Illawarra Volleyball, Volleyball ACT, Tasmanian Volleyball and some of the Sydney volleyball associations. Hunter Volleyball will be hosting a round of the SEVL.
Anticipated Rounds according to the organisers are 19/10, 26/10, 2/11, 9/11, 16/11, Finals 23/11. Format and venues tbc.
Good Neighbour Tournament 24-25 November
The 2024 Senior Representative season culminates in annual Good Neighbour tournament.
Considerations
There’s a lot to be determined during February/March to ensure that the season offering is a valuable and high-quality playing experience for teams, financially manageable, and also manageable from a home & away travelling load, and further discussion will be held with interested players regarding:
- Coaching support for local training and preparation, as well as travelling tournament support
- Costs including Team Sponsorship packages (flights, accommodation, ground transport, uniforms, team entries), team fundraising activities (including Bunnings, Club Raffles), etc
Volleyball NSW State Cup events
Due the limited number of other playing opportunities between April - October, HV will keep an eye out for any Clubs hosting tournaments that would be great playing opportunities for senior teams. However, any 2022-2023 Senior Rep players who wish to organise teams of HV Reps to play in the following VNSW tournaments are encouraged / welcome to do so if they wish. Coaching support is not being committed but players may seek out coaching support if convenient for HV Coaches.
State Cup Schedule:
· 2-3 March Illawarra (1 day tournaments, various divisions)
· 6 April Sydney (1 day tournament, various divisions)
